Rises Outnumber Falls On Lower Turn-over

Rises outnumbered falls two to one on lower turn-over in yesterday’s trading when stock exchanges opened for the week. Leaders followed the same trend, and price movements again showed some wider margins.

New Zealand Breweries I’ose 2d to 13s sd, New Zealand Refrigerating notes gained 6d to 13s 3d, but the old and dividend-deferred shares each lost 3d. McKendricks improved 3d to sell at 7s 3d. Associated Motels shares and notes both rose substantially to come into line at 5s 6d. Golden Bay at 14s 6d, U.E. Box 1967 notes at 10s 3d, and Whitcombe and Tombs at 18s 9d each gained 3d. Among the falls Ballins lost Id to Ils lid, General Foods 4d to 16s Bd, and New Zealand Forest Products Id to 22s 9d.
