Profit Rises 28.4 p.c. (A’.Z. Pres.t Association* NAPIER. Sept 14. Net profit after tax of £471.196. an increase of 28.38 per cent, was earned by Rothmans Tobacco Company in the year to June 30. Net profit last year was £367.020. The directors' report shows current assets have increased by £298.579 to £2.876.315. with stocks on hand accounting for the major proportion of this heading. The report says directors have considered it prudent that the provision for depreciation on plant and machinery should be at rates greater than hitherto applied.
Directors advise the holders of the remaining 8106 preference B shares that the company will exercise its rights to redeem such shares on February 8, next year. The capital redemption reserve fund at £255,894 represents the redemption at par out of profits on preference B shares during the last nine years.
Total shareholders' funds now stand at £2.026,655, an improvement of £231,472 on the year's operations, representing an increase of 12.89 per cent.
