To Study In Hawaii

The University half-miler, W. Slinn, will be absent from inter-club track and field meetings at Rugby Park this season. He has left Christchurch and for the next two years will be studying at the University of Hawaii. A former secretary and committee member of the Canterbury University club, Slinn was awarded a blue for athletics last season. He was runner-up in the New Zealand Universities 880 yards championship last April. One of his most impressive performances last season was in the 880 yards event in the meeting between Canterbury University and the Australian Universities touring team. He won the race on a soft track in Imin 56.8 sec.
