CRUSHED TO DEATH
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 15. A man was crushed to death when his head became caught in the jaws of a trolley-type jack at his home tonight. He was: James Gray, aged 46, married. Mr Gray was head groundsman of the Auckland City Council sports grounds at Victoria Park. He was working underneath a friend’s car in the garage of his home at Victoria Park. Detective Inspector B. Wilkinson, of the Auckland C. 1.8. said it appeared Mr Gray unintentionally released the jack and his head was trapped [as it descended.
