Waived Ballot To Get Hall
(N.Z. Press Association)
BLENHEIM, September 15. Four years after starting a scheme to raise funds for the Marlborough Centennial Hall, the Auckland Terminating Building Society, which ran the scheme, is holding its annual conference in the hall.
A Marlborough group of subscribers who waived their ballot right in favour of the hall fund raised £21,000 in two years and a half. With a Government subsidy this contributed £31,500 to the cost of the £49,000 hall, which was opened last month.
