Richey (United States) will contest the women's final Miss Bueno, seeded two, beat Miss R. Casals (United States) in a long, drawn-out match, 6-2, 10-12, 6-3, and Miss Richey, the third seed, overcame Miss K. Melville (Australia), 6-3. 6-2. Stolle's surprising victory required only 70 minutes. He dominated his favoured opponent with precise placements and a strong serve. Emerson's Many Errors A finalist here two years ago when Emerson won his second United States title, Stolle broke through in the ninth game of the first set when Emerson made three errors and Stolle held his service to take the set. Stolle ripped through Emerson s uncertain serves in the second set, breaking him in the first, fifth and seventh games with minimum difficulty. Stolle came right back with
a break tn the second game of the third set and did so again in the fourth game as Emerson's errors continued. The Newcombe-Santana semifinal was completely dominated by service. Only six breaks were achieved in the match, and Newcombe, ranked number three in Australia, served with particular severity.
