Russley Beats Life Boys
The Canterbury Life Boy Rugby team, the present holder of the inter-provincial Life Boy Stedfast Shield, was beaten 6-8 by a heavier Russley Primary School team in a close game at the school on Saturday. This was the first game the Canterbury team has had since the team was picked, and it took some time for the players to find their footing against the experienced Russley side. Canterbury plays the Otago team at Christchurch on September 24. For Russley. Bruce Mclntyre scored two tries and Peter Stewart converted one. Scorers for Canterbury were Algiss Podolskis and Ross Pearce. A game against the Ashburton Life Boys had been planned for next Saturday, but this has been transferred to October 1.
