Five Die In Gaol Battle
(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SANTIAGO, Sept. 11. Four warders and a convict died last night in a wild gun battle after a massive attempted escape by 800 prisoners from the Santiago penitentiary. Six prisoners escaped by climbing over the prison gates and seizing a taxi at gunpoint. Many other convicts broke into the prison armoury, seized rifles and ammunition and began firing from the prison roof.
