Market Steadier But Quiet As Week Ends
Trading was quieter yesterday as the week came to a close, but the market tone was steadier with rises just ahead of falls and key stocks in balance. L. D. Nathan, up Is to 225, and New Zealand Woolpack, up 9d to 14s 3d, featured among the rises.
Further advances were made by New Zealand Refrigerating, up 3d to 13s 6d, B.N.Z. Finance, up 2d to 12s 3d, McKendrick, up 6d to 5s 6d, N.Z. Forest Products, up Id to 23s 3d ex dividend, and Whitconbe and Tombs, up 3d to 18s 6d.
Among the falls Consolidated Plastics, down 3d to 235, J. Wattie, down 2d to 17s 9d, Rothman, down 2d to 25s 3d, Wellington Publishing, down 3d to 18s 3d, and Winstone, down 6d to 38s 6d, continued to slide.
