May Come South
Tromba, a well-performed young horse recently purchased overseas by Mr J. G. Alexander, proprietor of the Cranleigh Stud, could spend part of his stud career in the South Island. Mr Alexander also owns Ribotlight and Mystery, which are a standing in Canterbury. Tromba may come to Canterbury later to replace either one of these imported horses. Such a system, offering a wider choice to owners of South Island mares, could have beneficial results. Tromba was foaled in 1962. He won four races and was placed in eight others. Tromba is by the brilliant Panorama horse Whistler, winner of six races, including the Coventry and Champagne Stakes.
His dam, Deuteron, is an unraced sister of last season’s top English sire. Court Harwell, now in South America. Court Harwell and Deuteron were got by Prince Chevalier from Neutron, by Hyperion from Participation by Precipitation from Arabella, the grand-dam of Llanstephan, third dam of The Cobbler, and fourth dam of Supreme Court.
