Safety Award The Christchurch Drainage Board yesterday awarded a citation to the staff of the sewage-treatment station in recognition of their outstanding industrial safety record. The chairman of the board (Mr F. R. Price) presented the citation to the chief chemist (Mr A. E. Lambden) on behalf of the 31 employees at the station. Since August 4, 1965, the staff have not lost a single man-hour through accident. New Patrol Cars The Christchurch City Council traffic department has bought four new Fiat 1500 s for use as patrol cars. The vehicles are to be handed over next week. The cars will be painted white, and have alternators fitted to deal with the additional electrical load caused by radios and microwave units. The cars have a top speed of about 96 miles an hour, and will accelerate to 60 miles an hour in 12.3 seconds. Warmer Day Christchurch had a warmer day yesterday, although high cloud was present throughout the day. A light northeasterly wind freshened in the mid-afternoon. The maximum temperature recorded at Harewood was 53 degrees at 3 p.m. At 3 p.m. in the Botanic Gardens the temperature was 52 degrees. A temperature of 44 degrees was recorded at Harewood at 6 a.m. This rose to 46 degrees at 9 a.m. and to 51 degrees at noon. The temperature gauge on the Government Life building registered 53 degrees at 4.30 p.m. Town Hall Model A scale model of the proposed Christchurch town hall and civic centre is now on public display in the foyer of the Waimairi County Council offices at the comer of Clyde road and Jeffreys road. The model, with sketch plans of the project, can be seen during office hours until September 16.
