Medical Research Grant By Bank

WELLINGTON, Sept. 6.
Nine medical research grants totalling £lO,OOO will be made in 1967 by the Bank of New Zealand.
The grants are from a £lOO,OOO fund established in 1961 to mark the bank’s centenary. To date, 48 awards have been made.
Next year’s grants will be made to:— Dr. W. N. Adams Smith
(Dunedin) continuation of assistance in study of anatomy at the University of Oxford; Dr. D. G. Keer (Hamilton) to assist studies in small intestine function; Dr. J. K. Laing and Mr J. T. Murray (Christchurch) t r assist in study of uric acid metabolism: Mr A. R. McKenzie (Dunedin) continuation of assistance in research in orthopaedic surgery; Dr. I. G. McPherson (Napier) grant for equipment connected with research in diabetics: Dr. E. R. Nye (Dunedin) grant for equipment in study of cardiovascular disease; Dr. T. V. O’Donnell (Dunedin) grant for equipment for use in measurement of cardiac output; Dr. D. J. Scott (Auckland) continued research on the physiology of human growth hormone secretion; and Dr. R. M. L. Whitlock (Auckland) to assist study of medical engineering at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London.
