A water-colour of George Sound, South Westland, by J. C. Hoyte brought the top price of 190 guineas at a sale of early and contemporary New Zealand paintings and sketches in Wellington yesterday. A primitive mining scene and camp on the West I Coast by the same artist fetched 160gns.—(P.A.)
