Gas-Workers’ New Award

WELLINGTON, August 30. An increase of 3s 4d a shift in the minimum wage rates is provided in a new award for gas-workers. Retort operators, stokers, fire-cleaners and • tar-plant operators will receive £3 4s 6d a shift. Increases ranging from 4}d to 5d an hour are provided for day workers. The wage provisions are retrospective to July 25.
