DOMINION INVEST.
Better Result May Be Held
CN.Z Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Aug. 30.
Present indications were that the Dominion Investment and Banking Association should be able to maintain the improved result of the last year, the chairman, Mr P. Harrison, told the annual meeting today. A side effect of the credit restrictions was increased competition by all trades for the limited capital available for investment, he said. The association’s business was limited to the gross return available from interest earned on first-class mortgage securities.
This, when compared with the gross earnings available to hire purchase and discounting houses, left a narrow margin for offering higher rates of interest to prospective investors.
It was thus difficult to maintain a growth rate in over-all operations, but directors were making every effort to increase funds.
