EMPLOYEES OF CABARETS
Finger-print Regulation
fN.Z.P..4.-Reuter— Copyright)
NEW YORK. August 29.
A regulation requiring employees of New York cabarets to be fingerprinted is to be revoked, says the City Licence Commissioner. Mr Joel Tyler.
The move would clear the way for the singer, Frank Sinatra, to appear in cabarets in New York.
He has long refused to submit to being finger-printed. The rule applies to entertainers, bartenders, waiters, waitresses and cabaret owners.
Fingerprinting of cabaret employees in New York City dates back to 1926, during the prohibition era, when the authorities believed that many nightclubs were under the control of gangsters and bootleggers.
