FISHERMAN KIDNAPPED
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 30. Pirates infesting the Straits of Malacca have struck again, this time almost at the entrance to the port of Kuala Lumpur. Police said the sea raiders had kidnapped a fisherman, and were demanding a ransom of about £125 for his release.
The pirates intercepted the home-bound fishing craft, with two men aboard, on Saturday morning. According to the other crewman, whom they released, their ship was a gunboat type. ■ with a cannon mounted on the • forward deck. The men aboard were in khaki uniforms, and were armed with rifles and ■ pistols.
