Before leaving to work for a while in Japan, Len Castle, regarded by some as New Zealand’s leading potter, prepared two exhibitions of his work to show the Japanese what he had been doing. He changed his plans and took one exhibition. The other came to Christchurch and will be shown in Several Arts this week. It is the first time that Castle has had an extensive exhibition in Christ-
church. There are 92 pieces—dishes, bowls, vases and bottles, some standing, some hanging—which include a wide range of shapes and finishes. The prices range from £1 5s to £13 10s. Already there is a profusion of red stickers and the buyers include the Robert McDougall Art Gallery and the Education Department (for its secondary school art appreciation collection).
