FIRE GUTS KITCHEN

The kitchen of a singlestorey wooden house at 446 Greers road, Papanui, was gutted by fire yesterday morning. The livingroom wall was scorched and smoke damaged the interior of the house. The alarm was given by a neighbour at 11.25 a.m. One engine from St. Albans and one from Harewood attended. No-one was in the house, which is occupied by Mr R. J. Edkins. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault in the kitchen.
