TASMAN SHIPPING
‘Committee’s Report Soon’ The committee established by the Government to study trans-Tasman shipping is expected to make at least an interim report shortly, says the Ministers of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall) in a letter to the general secretary of the Manufacturers' Federation (Mr A. R.Dellow). Mr Marshall says the committee has had several meetings to try to establish the scope of the problem and to consider what measures can be taken to solve it. Mr Marshall says recent announcements by the Union Steam Ship Company of its plans for a roll-on ferry service across the Tasman may have some effect on the committee’s recommendations. Mr Marshall says it will be the Government’s, and, he is sure the committee’s intention that the views of major organisations likely to be affected by the proposals are taken into account before the final report is submitted to the Government. “You may be assured that the committee will consult with the federation at the appropriate time,” says Mr MarshalL
