Plea For Teachers
(IV.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 22. The Parent-Teacher Federation will ask the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) for a crash programme to fill secondary school teacher shortages. The federation’s council will also ask for a new policy to attract more teachers to secondary schools over the next 10 years particularly for mathematics and science. Next year, ■ said the assistant secretary of the federation, Mr A. P. Quinn, of Lower Hutt, there would be only one new fully qualified physics teacher for all secondary schools.
