Rises Balance Falls At Start Of Trading
Rises balanced falls at the start of the week’s trading yesterday, both leaders and second-line stocks following the same trend. Ashbv Bergh, in first business for some weeks, rose Is to , 475. Other locally-based stocks to advance were A.B. Consolidated, up 2d to 5s Bd, and M. O’Brien, up 3d to 13s 3d. General Foods continued climbing, adding Id more to 17s 3d. Marine Packers gained 9d to 5s 6d, and National Electric recovered 4d to 6s 3d. Among insurances New Zealand at 23s 2d and South British at 30s | Id each lost another Id. Wright, Stephenson lost 4d to 32s 6d and Prestige 3d to 10s 6d. A. and T. Burt, in first sales as 5s units, sold l|d down at 12s.
