HELP FOR REFUGEES
Church Council Appeal (N. Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) GENEVA, Aug. 21. A division of the World Council of Churches has launched an appeal for £13,500 to support teams helping refugees in South Vietnam. The World Council of Churches said its division of inter-church aid has made the appeal to support two teams based in the Qui Nhon area of South Vietnam over the next two years. Team participants have already been selected from India, Burma, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. Effect Of TV The annual report of Chalmers Presbyterian Church, Timaru, said television appeared to have affected the church less than many other city churches in the country. Discussing evening communion services during the year, the report said attendances were generally higher than in previous years, but the session expressed concern at the rapidly falling attendances at preparatory services. “This is a sign of the times with which other Presbyterian churches are confronted,” said the kirk session clerk (Mr J. B. .Dowling).
