ASHBURTON SEAT

Mr R.E. Buick Withdraws (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, Aug. 16. The National Party candidate for the Ashburton seat at the General Election in November, Mr R. E. Buick, has withdrawn for family health reasons. This was announced last night by Mr E. O'Fee, on behalf of the Canterbury division of the New Zealand National Party. Mr O’Fee said nominations for a replacement candidate would be sought. The seat is held for the National Party by the Minister of Lands and Forests (Mr Gerard), who is retiring after 23 years in Parliament.
