BUILDING PERMITS
Fewer During April-June
There has been a drop in the number and value of building permits issued during the three months AprilJune, 1966, compared with the corresponding period of 1965, says the Government Statistician.
The number of permits issued for new houses and flats during the three months April-June, 1966, was 6065, valued at £22,053,000. This compares with 6803 permits, valued at £22,549,000 issued in the corresponding period of 1965.
The total value of all permits issued during AprilJune, 1966, was £45,575,000. compared with £46,312,000 for April-June, 1965. The value of permits issued for hotels, boarding-houses, and so on, was £1,469,000 during the three months, for factories £4.727,000 and for schools £2,501,000. Comparable figures for the corresponding period of 1965 were: hotels, boarding-houses, and so on £2,666,000; factories, £6,197,000; and schools, £1,964,000.
