Manufacturers To Have Talks In Australia

WELLINGTON, August 15. Nine officials of the Manufacturers’ Federation will leave this week for Canberra for consultations with the Associated Chambers of Manufacturers of Australia on August 22 and 23. An inaugural meeting was held between leaders of the two organisations in Wellington last August.
Topics to be discussed in-
dude the recently announced increases in freight rates between Britain, Australia and New Zealand, the New Zea-land-Australia Limited Free Trade Agreement, means of co-operation in industrial development, Tasman shipping, and exchange schemes for training in industry. The economic position in Australia and New Zealand will also be reviewed.
The New Zealand delegation is:
Messrs J. R. Maddren (Christchurch) president of the federation, J. W. Reed (Wellington) and R. G. Speirs (Invercargill) vice-presidents, A. R. Dellow, general secretary, D. 0. Walker, councillor of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, H. W. B. Patterson, president of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association, A. S. Farrar, vice-president of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association, H. H. Saunders, immediate past president of the Otago-Southland Manufacturers’ Association, and I. J. Rollo, assistant secretary of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association.
