WEAPON THEFT

£5OO Reward Offered The reward of £5OO offered by the police for information or evidence leading to the recovery, or part recovery, of 21 dangerous weapons stolen from the Ponsonby Array Hall on June 20, last, has so far brought no results. The description of the stolen weapons is: Three 7.62 mm FN selfloading rifles, serial numbers 6113110. 5903829 and 5903828. Six 9mm Sterling submachine guns, serial numbers, N.Z. 539, N. Z. 602. N. Z. 426. N.Z. 304, N.Z. 1910 and K. .R 2638. Twelve 9mm FN automatic pistols, serial numbers 8T8936, 8T8955, 8T7619, 8T7648, 9T3219, 9T3224. ’ 8T3129. 9T326, 8T8779. 8T8373 and 9T681. A quantity of magazines: and cleaning rods for the' weapons was also stolen? Other equipment stolen included a Kershaw binocular, a prismatic compass, 9 General Service Mk 2 watches and one pair of old-type handcuffs.

The police fear that the weapons may fall into the hands of criminals who could use them for an armed holdup. Those who stole them may attempt to sell them. Any person knowing the whereabouts of any of the stolen property is asked to get in touch with the nearest police station.
