Baillie To Retire?

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A ) KINGSTON. An Achillea heel may have ended the athletics career of W. D. Baillie. He will take no further active part in his fourth Commonwealth Games, having withdrawn from both the three miles and the marathon after his poor showing in the six miles on Saturday night. The decision was taken after an examination by the New Zealand team’s medical officer, Dr. M. Smeaton. “1 definitely will not run again until the heel is right,” said Baillie. “This has been troubling me for two years and now that it has gone it is a relief.”
