Objection By Greece

A.-Reuter—Copyright) ATHENS, August 9 Greece would oppose any move by the Australian Government to conscript Greek citizens for service in the Australian armed forces before they had acquired Australian citizenship, Mr Theobaris Rentis, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, said in Athens today. Asked to comment on reports which said Australia planned to conscript foreigners for military service. Mr Rentis said that so far the Ministry had no information that Greek emigrants had been called for military service in Australia.
