Chance For Bronze (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) KINGSTON. New Zealand was soundly beaten by Scotland in the fight for the bronze medal, in the men’s foil team fencing event. The Scots won. 5-1. The only New Zealander to win a bout against Scotland was B. Pickworth, and in the six bouts the New Zealanders managed to make only 19 hits to 29 against. Earlier New Zealand had narrowly missed a chance for a gold or silver in a close semi-final with Australia. With victories over Canada in the first round and Jamaica in the second, New Zealand went down to Australia, 5-3. K. Mann failed to maintain earlier good form when he lost all his three bouts against the Australians.

England won the gold medal when it beat Australia, 5-1. in the final.
