Holidays In South

The largest marketing campaign ever launched in New Zealand to promote internal tourism was presented to a meeting of travel agents in the Auckland area by the sales manager of the National Airways Corporation (Mr M. A. Ramsden).

With the theme “Fly South For a Change,” the campaign will use heavy newspaper advertising backed by television to encourage Aucklanders to spend a holiday in the South Island.

Thirteen organisations are co-operating with the airline in the campaign including the South Island Publicity Association, the Tourist and Publicity Department and the tourist Hotel Corporation. Each has provided 20,000 copies of brochures which have been collated into a holiday planning kit. These South Island “holiday packs” contain detailed information on transport, accommodation and sightseeing. They will be distributed to agents in the Auckland area for distribution to potential South Island holidaymakers.
