U.K. Appoints Ombudsman
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, August 5. Britain’s first ombudsman will be Sir Edmund Compton, a 60-year-old top civil servant who at present audits the nation’s public accounts. The Prime ’finister, Mr Harold Wilson, told Parliament yesterday that Sir Edmund Compton would take up his new post—-officially designated as “parliamentary commissioner for administration” on September 1.
