Margaret Haddow, who weighs 16 stone, got a Job in a laundry recently after presenting her “ideal qualifications 75 ; “I’m strong and very fat.” Margaret, aged 21, saw the job advertised in her local newspaper. Mr C. Wfllaatns, the tawdry owner, explained Ms advertisement by saying: “It’s a hot job and whoever does it w® lose weight. I have worked It out that 90 times a day she will have to lift 4Olb leads of wet washing into a giant dryer with a heavy door. “Then she will have to unpack the toad and walk a mile a day pushing the laundry about in heavy wooden trucks.”
“I especially wanted a fat girl because she will have the incentive to work knowing she wiH get thin,” said Mr Williams.
Margaret Haddow, wiping her brow between lifts, said: “I thought the advertisement was cheeky, but I was cheeky enough to answer it I am determined to get down to nine or 10 Stone. I’m fed-up with people making remarks about weight”
