Waste Land

Sir, —Farmers are urged to increase production. At last we are waking up to the amount of waste land on our roadsides from which a farmer can be compelled to clear all gorse, broom, briar, and noxious weeds—on land he does not own. When he wants a new boundary fence, why not let him include this waste strip and bring it into production? He could notify the county council, and be shown where to erect it.— Yours, etc., RETIRED FARMER. August 2, 1966.
