Error, Not Trick
The mystery of the television set taken from a home in Seddon street, Christchurch, on Thursday, has been solved.
A director of a Christchurch company which hires sets said yesterday that his firm was the “guilty” party.
A woman in Seddon street, Rangiora, he said, notified the company that she wanted to terminate the hire of a television set, but the office girl who took the message
neglected to note the name of the town. “Two men in white overalls” accordingly went to the same address in Christchurch and collected a set there.
The company was completely unaware of its mistake until the Rangiora woman queried the delay in picking up the set from her home.
The set taken by mistake has now been repolished and returned, with a three-month guarantee. T
