92 TODAY
Growing old has not soured the sweet disposition of a Riccarton woman, Mrs Hannah Donaldson, who is 92 today. “It’s a kind world and everyone is nice,” she said yesterday. Walking was responsible for her longevity, said Mrs Donaldson. She has always been a keen walker and still walks to the Riccarton shopping centre every day. She came to New Zealand from England with her parents 90 years ago and has lived in Canterbury ever since. She was the eldest of her family and her seven brothers and sisters were bom in New Zealand.
Her father, a builder, never returned to England. The family moved to Akaroa and Mrs Donaldson taught there for many years.
Mrs Donaldson lives alone and enjoys good health. She attends the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church regularly. Recently she had the telephone installed and was very thrilled when her grandson telephoned from the North Island to congratulate her on becoming a great-grand-mother.
