Record Year For Fish, Crayfish

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 27. The Marine Department reported today that the fishing industry enjoyed a record year in catches of fish and crayfish.

The department's annua) report tabled in Parliament today, said a total of 604,582 cwt of fish, worth £1,974,509 caught by all methods were taken in comparison with 589,384 cwt in 1964. The crayfish catch of 97,933 increased by 7626 cwt over the 1964 total and its value was I £1,634,797. I Fish and fish products exports in 1965 rose by £454,939 Ito a total of £2,527,926 over jthe 1964 total and imports [(confined to canned and [salted fish and shellfish) fell £30,969 to £937,905.
