MOUNTAIN RADIO RELAY STATION

R.A.F. Helicopters Help Construction (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) SINGAPORE. The Royal Air Force has been helping to build a radio relay station 7000 ft up in Sabah's Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in South-east Asia. R.A.F. helicopters have been lifting tons of heavy micro-wave electronic equipment to the station, which is expected to relieve the State's communications problem. The lift was both dangerous and difficult. One helicopter spent six days waiting on the lower slopes of Mount Kinabalu for the cloud to clear before it flew equipment to the station.
