UNIVERSITY CONCERT

Music for orchestra by Toeschi and Schubert, some unaccompanied Chansons by Hindemith and the Mass in C major by Mozart (“The Coronation”) make up a programme to be presented this evening by the Undergraduates’ Choir and the Orchestra of the University of Canterbury. This represents some of the music studied by the students during the academic year. Although both orchestra and choir are not confined to music students alone, the School of Music is able to use these groups as a more practical source of information for its students. In the belief that actually making the music is more valuable than listening to recordings of it, the school requires music students to belong to one or other of the groups. The orchestra will be conducted by Leonard Rivenburg, the choir by David Sell.
