EXPORTS BY AIR
Importance . ToN.Z. Manufacturers recognised, the special importance of airi cargo to their export business, said Mr 3. K. Dobson, when he presided at an aircargo seminar in Christchurch yesterday. This was particularly so because of New Zealand's distance from its markets and the infrequency and inadequacy of alternative ansport services to some of them. Mr Dobson said the seminar fitted naturally into the pattern of intensive activity by manufacturers. This activity was being spear-: headed and co-ordinated by the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation’s export action group. It was most gratifying, he said, that three international carriers—B.O.A.C., Qantas and Air New Zealand—were taking part in the seminar “This reflects the team spirit which is so important to our drive to export more goods faster and more frequently and to an increasing number of markets,” said Mr Dobson. Speakers at the seminar included the cargo development manager of Air New Zealand (Mr J. M. Helleur), the cargo development and planning manager of the Douglas Aircraft Company (Mr L. B. Aschenbeck), the air cargo sales manager of 8.0.A.C. in Sydney (Mr H. Galbraith), and the cargo sales manager of Qantas (Mr R. J. Funnell), of Sydney.
