Maori Elected

A Maori has been elected to the Auckland Education Board for the first time. He is Mr M. D. T. Walters, of Te Kopuru, who contested Ward 3 (Dargaville). He was elected with 76 votes, his opponent, Mr R. G. Metcalfe, getting 40 votes. Mr Walter is married with four children. He is a farmer at Te Kopuru. - (PA.)
