SLIP NEAR KAIKOURA

Goods Trains Delaved

Three trains were delayed by a large slip that blocked the main north line near Kaikoura at 11 p.m. on Sunday. Lines gangs were called out and the slip was cleared by 5 a.m. yesterday. The slip occurred between Oaro and Puketa, about 10 miles south of Kaikoura. The Christchurch-Picton goods express train was delayed for five and a half hours and the south-bound express goods was delayed six hours. The Picton to Christchurch goods train was delayed six hours and a half.

A goods train was delayed at Rangiora for three hours after five waggons had been derailed during shunting on Sunday evening.
