Speed, Figure Skating

Scintillating exhibitions bv three Australian figure skaters highlighted the first day of the New Zealand figure skating and short track speed championships at the Centaurus road ice rink. Experienced observers said that the display of free skating by Mdse Mary-Ellen Holland surpassed all other exhibitions they had seen in this country. Miss Holland gave her display after she had been judging for a long period. A high standard was also achieved by B. Hewlson and Miss E. Sloman, who gave a smooth exhibition of adagio skating.
