The Sydney golfer, R. Stanton, has won the German Open golf championship. He had a 72-hole aggregate of 274, winning by five strokes from the New Zealander, R. Newdick.

R. Cole, the South African winner of the recent British amateur title, finished third on 280.

Stanton scored 66 and 71 on the 36-hole final round to nose out Newdick for the title.

Newdick shot a weak final round 74, combining with his previous 70, 66 and 69 for an aggregate of 279. He won £35?.
