(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright;

DA NANG, July 24.

Viet Cong guerrillas rained at least 30 mortar shells on the United States Marine heliport-hospital complex in Da Nang last night.

A United States- Marine spokesman said four helicopters were damaged and seven men were wounded, but none killed.

Two of the helicopters were slightly damaged, but still usable, while two others would require more extensive repairs before they could be flown again, he said. At the United States Navy hospital, a 400-bed installation just across the road from the marine heliport, three persons were wounded.

Four others were wounded at the engineers’ compound just up the road from the hospital. This same area, about two miles from the city of Da Nang and three from the main United States air base.

was the target of a similar attack last October. One person was killed then, 100 were wounded and 40 marine helicopters damaged.
