Farmers Told Of Procedure ■ Farmers who wished make a claim on the Earth-! quake and War Damage Com-; mission for damages to farm buildings through such things. as wind, must file their claims J with the commission, the! chairman of North Canter-j bury Farmers’ provincial ex-|! ecutlve (Mr R. H. Bedford) li said yesterday. Mr Bedford said It was not correct procedure for a farmer to place the matter with ; his local insurance company,! which was in fact, only the' collecting agent for the com-! mission. A recent meeting of the North Canterbury meat and wool section was told by the! Cust-West Eyreton delegate’ YMr J. A. Jamieson) that he! had difficulty in achieving sat-, tsfaction of a claim, but fol-!, lowing a letter from the j commission. Mr Jamieson ack-i nowledged there had been a misunderstanding, after he had placed the matter with his Insurance agent. Mr Jamieson, who attended yesterday's provincial executive meeting by Invitation, said he had originally raised! the matter in the form of a question, and it had seemed! that many farmers were not! aware of the correct proce-l dure. Mr Bedford thanked Mr Jamieson for raising the matter, saying it had brought to light information of which farmers were not aware.
