K.P. DRUG PROFIT

Increase Of 65 p.c. (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 20. Tax-paid profit of Kempthorne Prosser and Company’s N.Z. Drug Company, Dunedin - based fertiliser maker and drug distributor, rose 6.5 per cent to £239,884 in the year to March 31. This result, still subject to audit, is £14,562 more than the £225,322 earned last year. Directors recommend a final dividend of 4 per cent, making 8 per cent for the year against 10 per eent last year.

They say they consider it is prudent to retain a greater proportion of the year’s profit in the business. This is because the company is faced with substantial capital spending on modernising plant and increasing production. Shares become ex dividend on August 5.
