CN.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 20. New Zealanders were so close to Vietnam that it should be obvious to them what they were protecting, the Canadian Secretary of State (Miss J. V. LaMarsh) said today. Miss LaMarsh said the reason for the Vietnam war was not as obvious to Canadians. “We have pledged ourselves to do anything we can there to end the war,” she said. Canada was a member of the International Control Commission. Canada spent 16,000 million dollars, 22 per cent of its budget, on defence last year.
