Students Raise About £300

About £3OO had been raised by students from Canterbury University for the World University Service, said a member of the service’s committee (Mr H. Gunz) yesterday. Of this about £220 had been collected during a work day which the students held last Saturday as part of the World University Service week. , The remainder had been collected from activities which the students held last week. The activities included a film premiere, two or three lunch-hour concerts, and an art exhibition, by students from the School of Fine Arts. Mr Gunz said that about half the money would go towards helping Nepalese students to raise money for a students* hostel at Tribhuvan University. Most of the funds for the hostel had been provided from overseas through the World University Service. The other half of the money would go towards the World University Service general funds. These would be distributed from the office in Geneva, said Mr Gunz.
