Big Bill Fancied In Levin Event

“The Press’’ Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. In spite of his failure at Trentham in the Winter Oats Handicap, Big Bill could repeat his success of last year on the Levin course when he contests the Hatuma Lime Handicap there tomorrow.

Last year the race was the President’s Handicap and Big Bill led all the way to win by three lengths and a half from Three Kings and Capless.

Big Bill failed to handle the sticky ground at Trentham. He finished sixth, but was not knocked about over the final stages. The ground at Levin should suit him better for although it may be soft it is usually fairly loose. Flounce, which will be ridden by R. J. Skelton, appeals. She showed improvement in her last start when Chatty Lady nosed her out of first place at Wanganui. Flounce has done well since. Royal Polo and Supa both ran good races at Wanganui with Royal Polo’s effort a big improvement. He has plenty of ability and could be prominent. If Laramie starts he will be taken into consideration in a field of this strength. The best of the others may be Acis and the improving Colonial King. Dunraven will have an apprentice allowance in the Stewards* Handicap and this should get him home at the head of the field. Easy Winner Dunraven was an easy winner on the second day at Trentham. He scored by five lengths. Then, last Saturday, he was promoted to third after a skirmish in the sprint. Summer Flight and Master Defence appeal. Summer Flight ran good races over a middle distance at Hastings. In his 'ast start Hatari just beat him. Now he will revert to a sprint and should make the change in good style. Master Defence looked un-

lucky to lose the sprint at Trentham as he was holding the others when he ran out He has raced well at Levin in the past.
